For this project, I partnered with Art on the Spectrum, a nonprofit that provides arts enrichment programs for children on the autism spectrum. The assignment was to design a social media advertisement for their annual fundraiser, an event that coincides with World Autism Awareness Day. The client wanted something clean, modern, and visually engaging that would appeal to parents and educators—an audience that values inclusivity, arts education, and community impact.
I began by diving into the design brief, which emphasized clarity, legibility, and inclusivity. Since the ad would live on social media, I worked within a 1080 x 1080px format, focusing on creating a layout that was bold enough to grab attention in a fast-scrolling feed while still delivering the message at a glance. The event title, tagline, and call-to-action became my anchors, so I established a clear typographic hierarchy: headline in green for impact, tagline in blue for contrast, and body copy grounded in a legible sans serif to keep things approachable.
Color and imagery were critical. The puzzle piece logo and superhero puzzle graphic tied directly into autism awareness, while the warm photo of a child painting provided a human connection. I intentionally framed the layout to balance visual storytelling with whitespace, ensuring the eye flows from the headline down to the CTA button. The “BUY TICKETS TODAY!” call-to-action pops in bright orange with a subtle drop shadow, making it unmissable without overwhelming the rest of the design.
The final deliverable is a clean, high-contrast ad that communicates inclusivity, creativity, and urgency all in one frame. Every design decision—from typography alignment to the use of color psychology—was made to resonate with the audience and inspire action. The result is a piece that feels professional yet heartfelt, perfectly aligned with the client’s mission of nurturing creativity and celebrating young artists.
